Welcome to our school community. This is an information guide on what the St. Emile Parents’ Association function is. There have been many queries (from new and existing parents alike) about what the Parents’ Association does and where the funds raised are used. We hope that you find this document helpful. If you have any questions, or if you would like to attend the meetings, please contact any of the committee members. Our meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the school staff room beginning in September and ending in June. Anyone interested in becoming involved is welcome!

The Parents’ Association, of which all parents/guardians of children attending St. Emile School are automatically a part, performs two core functions. One is to raise funds to support various activities that benefit the school and our students. Funds raised in the past years have significantly contributed to or funded in whole the following:
Supporting School Activities
-
The building of the playground structure at the back of the school
-
Refurbishing and automation of the school library
-
Purchasing audio/visual equipment for the classrooms
-
Supporting initiatives such as the birthday book program
-
Supporting field trips
-
Upgrading the science program by purchasing science equipment and supplies
-
Supporting reading month and spirit week
-
Purchasing the school banner for the gym
-
Purchasing musical instruments (xylophones, metallaphones, glockenspiels)
-
Supporting school graduations
-
Supporting Artist in the School and Author in the School programs
Fostering School Spirit
The other main function of the Parents’ Association is to foster a strong community school spirit. To this end, we have tried to be creative in supporting/initiating the following initiatives:
-
Open House BBQ held at the start of the school year
-
Hot Dog/Hamburger/Pizza Days
-
Teacher Appreciation Days
-
Pancake Day(Shrove Tuesday)
-
Sock Hops for students held during Spirit Week
-
Supporting volunteer appreciation events
-
Supporting the Faith Development committee
-
Supporting student volunteer appreciation events (patrols, choir, peacekeepers, etc.)
To support these initiatives we have tried to be equally creative in launching fund raising initiatives that will help us achieve our goals. Below is a list of fund raising drives that are planned for the upcoming school year:
-
Entertainment Books (last year 2010)
-
Mom’s Pantry
-
St. Paul’s Raffle
-
Plant Sale
-
The Bike-a-thon (our biggest fundraiser of the year)
In addition, other initiatives have been started of which you may not be aware. Please note the items below and keep them in mind.
Campbell Soup Labels: please bring in the labels from any Campbell soup product and include the UPC code as well. The labels are collected and sorted by Mrs. Romanetz and Mrs. K and sent in to Campbell’s. The school will receive a credit towards items in their catalogue that can be used in the classrooms.
Please note that we are not encouraging you to specifically purchase products from Campbell’s, but if you do, keep the above in mind. Thank you.
How you can support us
To execute our plans over the school year requires many hours of planning and commitment on the committees’ part. Volunteering your time at the meetings or helping out at the different events such as Hot Dog Day, Pancake Day, the Bike-a-thon helps to lighten the load and keeps these events going.
Please be generous with your time when called upon to ensure a balanced workload on our volunteer contingent. We acknowledge that today’s work and personal schedules do not leave much time for other activities, but the small effort you make contributes in a big way to the continuation of these activities and the enrichment of the school experience for our children.
